Dr Waseem Ashraf is an expert consultant gastroenterologist with a special interest in minimally-invasive techniques, such as endoscopy and was actually one of the earliest capsule endoscopy operators in the world.

After completing his Fellowship in Gastroenterology from the University of Nebraska Medical Centre, USA he was appointed consultant in gastroenterology in the UK in 1995. Throughout his career, Dr Ashraf has authored a number of research articles in peer-reviewed journals and also has more than 30 scientific abstract publications and a further two book chapters. 

Dr Ashraf is very experienced with endoscopic diagnostics and therapeutic techniques and is especially accomplished in carrying out endoscopic treatments which minimise the need for surgery, in some cases. Dr Ashraf is also particularly experienced in carrying out procedures relating to the stomach, colon, small intestine, pancreas and bile ducts. His main clinical interests include minimally-invasive procedures, bowel disease, colon cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and other gastrointestinal conditions.
